A treat for the whole family!

  • 1 - 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 envelope dry yeast
  • 3/4 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Kosher salt

Place the warm water in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and allow to soften for 5 minutes. Add the salt, sugar and butter and mix well. Stir in the flour and knead to make a smooth dough. Do not let the dough rise! Immediately cut the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into 1/2 inch thick strips. Twist the dough into pretzel shapes. Place the pretzels on foil-lined cookie sheets. Brush each pretzel with the beaten egg and sprinkle with salt. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
