CANALETTO at Fashion Island Newport Beach

It was a pleasure to celebrate Canaletto Newport Beach’s opening a couple of weeks ago! The decor is stunning, the oysters rocked (!) and their Mercato del Peche (seafood bar) is the perfect place to sit for cocktails and gifts from the sea. Their Prosecco List is most impressive and the service was attentive, gracious and knowledgeable.
Loved the space; Airy, with high ceilings, beautiful wood and so many choices for seating. The bread delivered to the table warm had the most incredible crust and the prosciutto pizza, which came with the romantic story about where in Italy the prosciutto came from was a delicious start, with a crisp curst, with ingredients of the highest quality.
I’m a salad girl and the Baked Pear Endive Salad with the pungent blue cheese and lots of walnuts was truly delectable. Lana loved the Osso Bucco, complete with the gift of marrow and the handmade pastas was a glorious taste of Italy.
Drawing its flavors from the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, Canaletto has a sophisticated Italian ambiance. Overseeing Canaletto’s grand opening and menu creation is Executive Chef Maurizio Mazzon, Venetian born and trained. His passion and commitment to using imported Italian ingredients with California’s freshest regional products to prepare an amazing Italian menu is most impressive.
Canaletto offers the freshest seafood, rotisserie and grilled meats, sliced-at-the-moment salumi, extensive risotto choices, pizzas from a traditional Italian-designed oven and a delicious Tiramisu!
With “Al fresco” dining, fireside seating and private dining rooms, Canaletto is Newport Beach’s new “favorite italian”…and we can’t wait to dine there again!
